Las Vegas Outlook: Hopeful Their Luck Is Changing
by Dominic Bencivenga, Chief Worldwide Sales Officer, Travel
We recently had a conversation with Chuck Bowling, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mandalay Bay and Delano Las Vegas. Chuck is responsible for overseeing all operations at the AAA Four Diamond Award winning resort. Chuck has been a longtime friend, business partner and strong advocate for Active International.
Here are some of Chuck’s insights into the current state of the Hospitality Industry:
"After a year of complete devastation to the travel industry, we are starting to see a dim flicker at the end of the tunnel. Our research shows in the near term that people are researching vacation escapes beginning in the 2nd quarter. People feel that time frame will give a large majority of the population a chance to get the vaccine. For Las Vegas, this is great news. Of course, the real recovery begins when large gatherings are approved. As the entertainment, as well as meeting and convention capital of North America, this is what will really kick start our destination into another gear. We have a lot of meetings and events on the books for the second half of 2021 and so once we get the ok, I know the planning of these events will move into full motion. I know many of us were glad to say goodbye to 2020 only to see early 2021 look much the same. But there is little doubt in my mind that better days are ahead.”
